2696 Casitas Ave
Sold for $1,250,000 — a vintage 1920s cabin in the foothills of Altadena.
After the Eaton fire in January 2025 devastated this pocket of LA, many wondered how the neighborhood would change-how it would manifest in this new era. There were (and are!) fears about developers snapping up lots & changing the fabric of this special place. Altadena has long held onto a funky, off-beat, relaxed vibe in the shadow of the San Gabriel Mountains. So, this passing of the baton felt in keeping with preserving that energy.
My clients lived in Altadena pre-fire, and wanted to return-to be a part of bringing this pocket of LA to its former magic. Their dream? Either build something in keeping with the neighborhood’s original architecture, or find a surviving structure and restore her. The latter came true for them when they found this 1920s cabin. There’s lots to do, sure, but a 10,000+ SF parcel, epic mountain views, and the glimmers of what could be were right there. We won this dwelling over a whopping 12(!) competing offers through careful negotiation, while securing a significant credit towards improvements. My clients could not be more excited!
It’s awe-inspiring to see them finally come back to this place. I can’t wait to watch how they’ll restore this cabin, and become an integral part of bringing vibrance back to Altadena.
